Rick Lanning Custom Saddles

Home

Rick started playing with leather projects at the age of 12, when his grandfather gave him a used set of Tandy tools. At the age of 14, he started his apprenticeship as a horse trainer. For the next 20 years, he worked in the industry as a trainer, leather craftsman and instructed classes for the 4-H members in the county.

Rick opened his first leather shop in 1982. In the years to follow, he has worked for and with many artists in the business.  One of his favorite projects was the total restoration of a Miles City Saddle once owned by Lulu Belle Parr.  It was given to her by Buffalo Bill Cody while she was riding in his Wild West Show. It now sits in a museum dedicated to Miss Parr in Connecticut.
